Terms of Service

Welcome to Discord Translator ("the Bot", "we", "us", "our"). By using our Discord bot and related services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By inviting Discord Translator to your server or using any of its features, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

Discord Translator is a bot that provides language translation in Discord servers and, through the personal install, in DMs. Our services include:

• Automatic message translation based on server language settings (on by default in every server)
• The /translate command, and the Translate Message and Translate from here menus
• Reaction-based translation triggers
• Watching: /watch sends you another member's messages in the server where you set it up, translated, by DM
• A language tutor
• Optional paid plans that add encryption, shorter auto-delete by default, higher limits on Server plans and more (see the Premium page; billing terms are in section 4)

3. User Responsibilities

When using Discord Translator, you agree to:

• Use the service in compliance with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
• Not use the bot to translate or distribute harmful, illegal, or abusive content
• Not attempt to exploit, hack, or misuse the bot's functionality
• Respect other users' privacy choices, such as turning off being watched or blocking you with /blacklist
• Not use the service to spam or flood channels with translation requests

4. Premium Subscriptions

We offer optional premium subscriptions with enhanced features. By subscribing:

• You agree to pay the applicable subscription fees
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
• You can cancel, change your plan or card, and see invoices at any time in the billing portal (sign in with the email you used at checkout)
• Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. There are no partial refunds for the rest of that period; any other refund is handled case by case, at our discretion
• Changes that reduce a paid plan get reasonable notice

A server admin who looks at the Server plans and does not buy may be offered, by DM, one free week of Server Basic for that server. It is not a subscription: it needs no card, charges nothing and ends on its own 7 days after it starts, when the server returns to the free plan. Each server can have it once, and each person is offered it once. A plan bought during the week replaces it. Whether an offer is made is at our discretion.

5. Data and Privacy

Your use of Discord Translator is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Key points:

• We collect what the bot needs, listed in the Privacy Policy
• Each logged translation keeps up to the first 500 characters of the original and translated text; on the free plan it is deleted after 90 days
• Premium stores your translations encrypted and deletes them on a schedule
• You can erase your data with /deletedata in Discord
• We do not sell your data to third parties

6. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability, but:

• The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We do not guarantee 100% uptime or translation accuracy
• We may modify, suspend or discontinue free features with or without notice. Changes that reduce a paid plan get reasonable notice (section 4)
• We are not liable for any damages resulting from service interruptions

7. Intellectual Property

Discord Translator and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by its developer and protected by copyright.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to our service immediately, without prior notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms of Service
• Abuse of the service or other users
• Any conduct we deem harmful to the service or community

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Discord Translator and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through our Discord support server or website. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
