Our Principles
Privacy First
We collect only what's necessary. No message content is stored permanently unless you explicitly enable translation logging.
Free Forever
Core translation features will always be free. We won't paywall essential functionality or limit basic usage.
No Ads, No Tracking
We don't serve ads, sell data, or track users. The bot exists to help communities communicate—nothing more.
Minimal Footprint
We request only essential Discord permissions. The bot operates with the least privilege necessary.
How Translation Works
Message Received
When you use /translate or a watched user sends a message, the text is captured in memory.
Language Detection
The source language is auto-detected (or uses your specified language) locally before translation.
Translation Request
Text is sent to our translation service (self-hosted AI model or Google Translate) for processing.
Response Delivered
The translation is sent back to Discord and displayed. A translation log entry (up to the first 500 characters) is kept so you can review your history in the dashboard — free-tier logs are purged after 90 days, and premium plans get encryption at rest plus configurable auto-delete.
What We Store
User preferences: Your preferred language, privacy settings, and watch configurations are stored in our database so the bot remembers your settings.
Server settings: Default language, admin channel, and channel preferences for each server.
Translation logs: Each translation is logged with its language pair and up to the first 500 characters of the original and translated text, so you can review and export your own history from the dashboard. Free-tier logs are automatically purged after 90 days; premium logs are encrypted at rest and can auto-delete on your schedule (down to immediately).
Aggregate statistics: The public stats dashboard only ever shows counts and language pairs — never message content — and premium users are excluded from public statistics entirely.
What we DON'T store: Voice, attachments, messages the bot never translated, or any identifying information beyond Discord user/server IDs needed for functionality.
Your Controls
/settings privacy on — Enable privacy mode to prevent others from watching your messages for translation.
/blacklist — Block specific users from watching you or receiving your translations.
/watch remove — Stop watching any user at any time.
You can request deletion of all your data by contacting us on Discord.
Premium Privacy
Premium: Encryption at Rest
For users and servers who want more than the defaults, premium adds real privacy controls — live today, not a roadmap item. Paid plans encrypt stored translation data with AES-256-GCM using a key unique to you (or your server), and auto-delete logs on a schedule you control.
